DESCRIPTION: Colorado alabaster (partially translucent) - Creamy tan and light milk chocolate with specks and veining of grays and browns and black. At the heart of this free form, the alabaster stone is less than 1 inch thick. There, at the center, the stone is translucent.

"This stone sat on my workbench for what seemed like an eternity. Staring back at me, silent and uncarved, it yielded no hint as to what form was hidden beneath its surface. Finally, I attempted to model a small maquette of this beautiful chunk of earth. Almost immediately, I abandoned the maquette design and began to 'direct-carve' the stone (which is a technical term for 'flying by the force'). I love this process because it is pure discovery! My objectives in free-form designs can be summed up in four words: grace, balance, motion and surprise." FS
