Description: Italian Carrara marble. Creamy white with veining of grays, deep olive and black.

"This was a rectangular block not much larger than it is in finished form. I began carving this stone as soon as it came into the studio. I knew it was going to be a sleek, architectural form and I'd worked out most of the details in a few clay maquettes. As is often the case, simplicity in form is most difficult to execute. The challenge of this piece was to hand cut flat and curving planes--primarily using hand points and chisels. I have about thirty billion hours into the making of this sculpture, but it was worth it, as it is a very elegant form. I picture it living in an architect's office." FS
